WHY YOU'LL REACH FOR IT

Lately I've been captivated by the botanicals appearing on the runways—especially oversized flowers and leaves against otherwise simple gowns. I loved that contrast: bold, dramatic shapes without a lot of fuss. It became the inspiration for this new Flower and Leaf Earring.

• I borrowed the bold botanical shapes I've been noticing in fashion. The flower and leaf make a statement, while the clean silhouette keeps the earring wonderfully uncomplicated.
• I love the idea of something this dramatic being surprisingly easy to wear. I can picture it just as readily with jeans and a crisp shirt as with a beautifully simple evening dress.
• The satin gold-plated finish gives all those bold shapes a softer glow. I especially love it against the warm brown crystal leaf hanging below.
• At two inches long, this earring was meant to have presence. An etched disc sits above the circular ring, with the brown crystal leaf providing the final bit of movement below.
